Stem Cell Therapy

Deep, targeted healing for complete tissue recovery
introduction

What is BMAC stem cell therapy?

BMAC (Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate) is an autologous biological preparation derived directly from your own bone marrow. It contains a high concentration of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), haematopoietic progenitor cells, platelets, and growth factors — all of which play a central role in tissue regeneration and repair.
MSCs are multipotent — capable of differentiating into cartilage, bone, tendon, fat, and muscle tissue — making BMAC a versatile option across orthopaedic and systemic indications. Because the cells come from your own body, there is no rejection risk and no donor compatibility concerns.

MSC

Mesenchymal Stem Cells
Multipotent cells capable of differentiating into cartilage, bone, tendon, and muscle. The primary therapeutic component of BMAC.

GF

Growth Factor Concentration
TGF-β, BMP, PDGF, and VEGF are concentrated to promote tissue repair and anti-inflammatory activity.

PLT

Platelet Preservation
Platelets are co-concentrated during centrifugation, synergistically amplifying the regenerative effect of stem cells.
Autologous  Cells are collected from your own bone marrow — eliminating immune rejection, graft-versus-host response, and donor infection risk.
minimally invasive

The BMAC collection procedure

Performed under local anaesthesia as an outpatient procedure — no general anaesthesia or hospital admission required. The entire process takes 30–45 minutes.

STEP 01

Site Seleciton

The posterior iliac crest is the standard collection site — preferred for its high cell density and ease of access.

Posterior Iliac Crest

STEP 02

Local Anaesthesia

Anaesthetic applied to both skin and periosteum. Most patients experience pressure rather than sharp pain.

Pain Minimised

STEP 03

Bone Marrow Aspiration
A specialised needle collects 30–60ml of bone marrow. The sample is sealed and transferred immediately to our clean-room.

STEP 04

Processing & Administration
Centrifugation concentrates MSCs, growth factors, and platelets — administered on the same day as collection.
Same-Day Treatment
Recovery The collection site may feel sore or tender for 2–5 days. Most patients return to desk work the same day or the day after.
Precision Processing

Concentration & processing

The aspirated bone marrow is immediately processed in our certified clean-room using density gradient centrifugation — concentrating the therapeutic components into a treatment-ready preparation.
stage 01
Density Gradient Centrifugation
The bone marrow aspirate is centrifuged at high speed to remove red blood cells and unwanted components, isolating the buffy coat layer — which contains MSCs, growth factors, and platelets.
  • MSC concentration up to 6–8× above baseline whole marrow
  • Platelet co-concentration — PRP-like synergistic effect added

stage 02
Cell Count & Viability
Flow cytometry is used to confirm cell count and viability of the prepared BMAC concentrate. Preparations that do not meet the minimum viable cell count are discarded and not administered.
  • TGF-β, BMP, PDGF, and VEGF growth factors confirmed and preserved
  • Sub-threshold batches discarded — not administered
Quality confirmed
stage 03
Sterility Testing
A full sterility panel is completed per Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) advanced biologic standards. View Skin Clinic maintains complete processing documentation, available to patients on request.
  • Full MFDS-standard sterility panel completed
  • Processing documentation available for patient review
MFDS compliant
stage 04
Release & Administration
Once all criteria are met, the BMAC preparation is cleared for clinical use. Intra-articular or IV administration is performed under physician supervision on the same day as collection — no external transfer required.
  • Collection to administration completed same day, in-house
  • Imaging-guided injection where clinically indicated
Same-Day Treatment
Quality Control  Every batch passes a three-gate check — cell count and viability → sterility testing → release criteria — before any preparation is cleared for administration. No exceptions.
Clinical Applications

Conditions treated with BMAC

BMAC stem cell therapy Korea patients receive at View is applied across a range of musculoskeletal and systemic indications, based on individual assessment and published clinical evidence.
01
Knee Osteoarthritis (OA)
MSCs support repair of damaged cartilage surfaces while growth factors and platelets create an anti-inflammatory environment — reducing pain and improving function.
02
Hip & Shoulder Degeneration
MSCs support repair of damaged cartilage surfaces while growth factors and platelets create an anti-inflammatory environment — reducing pain and improving function.
03
Sports Injuries
Ligament tears, tendinopathy, and meniscal damage in active patients and athletes. BMAC accelerates soft tissue healing and may reduce recovery time.
04
Bone Healing & Regeneration
Non-union fractures, avascular necrosis, and delayed bone healing. BMPs present in BMAC directly stimulate osteogenesis and accelerate healing rates.
05
Systemic Anti-Aging
IV BMAC infusion is applied in select protocols for systemic immune support and anti-aging. Subject to individual eligibility assessment.
06
Combination Protocols
Sequential or combined application with other stem cell sources is possible. Designed individually at consultation based on goals and eligibility.
Patient Selection

Who is the ideal candidate?

BMAC is not appropriate for every patient. The following criteria serve as a general guide — final eligibility is determined by the physician at your initial consultation, including blood tests and imaging where indicated.
✓ good candidates

  • Mild-to-moderate knee, hip, or shoulder osteoarthritis
  • Patients seeking non-surgical or pre-surgical conservative treatment
  • Ligament, tendon, or cartilage injuries from sports or activity
  • Non-union fractures or delayed bone healing
  • Interest in systemic regeneration or anti-aging protocols
  • Adults in good general health with no active systemic infection
❌ Cases requiring caution

  • Active infection or sepsis
  • Recent history of malignancy or active cancer treatment
  • Severe blood coagulation disorder
  • Active autoimmune disease (individual assessment required)
  • End-stage joint destruction (surgical treatment recommended)
  • Severe osteoporosis (collection site safety concern)
“Final eligibility is determined by your physician following a thorough review of blood work, imaging, and your personal health history.”

Frequently asked questions

Is bone marrow aspiration painful?
Local anaesthesia is applied to both the skin and periosteum before the procedure. Most patients report a sensation of pressure rather than sharp pain. The collection site may feel sore or tender for 2–5 days afterwards, which is manageable with standard oral analgesia. Most patients return to normal activity the same day or the next.
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) concentrates platelets and growth factors from blood but does not contain stem cells. BMAC is a more complex biological preparation — it includes mesenchymal stem cells alongside growth factors and platelets. For indications requiring cellular differentiation and structural tissue repair, such as cartilage or bone regeneration, BMAC is generally preferred.
Most protocols begin with one to two sessions, with a follow-up assessment at four to six weeks. For knee osteoarthritis, a single injection often provides relief for six to twelve months. Additional sessions may be recommended based on your clinical response and indication severity.
Initial anti-inflammatory effects may be noticeable within two to four weeks. Structural tissue regeneration is a gradual process — most patients reach peak improvement over three to six months. Reported duration of effect varies by indication, with an average of six to eighteen months.
Yes, in some protocols. BMAC targets orthopaedic and structural indications, while blood-derived HSCs and adipose-derived ADSCs are better suited to systemic or aesthetic applications. Sequential or combined use is possible for patients with multiple treatment goals — your physician will advise on sequencing and eligibility.
